Bletchley Train Station Developments
East West Rail Developments
Information on the East West Rail plans can be found on the EWR website.
This development links to the planned Transport Hub for Bletchley and is a key project for the £22.7m Town Deal funding as well. Find out more here.
Milton Keynes City Council continues to work on the proposals for a Saxon Street Transport hub adjacent to the train station. As part of that process, discussions are ongoing with the railway company about whether an eastern entrance can form part of that overall emerging design proposal.
Your local Residents’ Associations are working hard to ensure information on the proposals is clear and that you know how to share any questions you have.
EWR Consultation 2024-25
East West Rail are running a 10-week non-statutory consultation from 14 November 2024 to 24 January 2025, offering communities along the route a crucial opportunity to have your say on the latest plans and help shape the future design of the railway.
As well as electrification, the consultation will provide latest designs and information on East West Rail, including:
A new railway between Bedford and Cambridge
Essential upgrades to the existing line between Oxford and Bedford
New stations/upgrades to existing stations
Proposed service patterns
Level crossings
Reducing environmental impacts and EWR’s commitment to biodiversity net gain
EWR wants to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to get involved in the consultation and provide feedback, so they’ll be hosting a series of community drop-in events along the route. These events will allow you to meet the team in person, discuss updates, and share your thoughts. Additionally, they’ll offer an online virtual consultation room and webinars for those who prefer to engage digitally.
Test Train Completes Journey
A test train successfully completed its first run between Oxford and Milton Keynes in October 2024.

Connection Stage One of the project includes the introduction of services from Oxford to Bletchley and Milton Keynes with the aim of the first passenger services starting in 2025. Services will better connect passengers and will have the potential to help unlock economic growth and create new opportunities across the region.
With the Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirming the Government’s commitment to East West Railway, it’s full steam ahead for the new connections coming to Bletchley!
